On one side of Kellan’s massive backyard, beyond his glimmering pool, a large white tent had been erected for the reception. On the other side, a small gazebo had been built for the actual ceremony, and guests were seated in rows of white chairs, waiting for the wedding to begin. Lanterns glowed, and white lights had been hung across the gazebo.

He and his brothers took their place in the gazebo.

When the wedding march began to play, Quinn wasn’t prepared to see Juliana walking down the aisle. She looked like every fantasy he’d ever had. Her olive skin glowed. Her dark hair was pulled up, and her gown showed off her elegant neck and collarbones. Her smile was bright, and her eyes were dancing.

She was lovely, in every way, and she was his bride.

  Mate, his dragon said.

  Yes. She is.

There was no point in fighting it.

She walked slowly, holding Declan’s hand. Declan was an energetic kid at all times, which was mostly due to the dragon shifter part of him that didn’t get to come out as often as necessary. He was adorable in his little black tux, and he’d obviously been coached to walk politely down the aisle. Every now and then, he’d jump straight up in the air, wiggling as he walked Juliana down the aisle.

Each time he jumped, Juliana smiled down at him. She would be a good mother. Maybe one day.

He brought his attention back to the present, where his bride now stood in front of him. The ceremony went quickly, and before long, Quinn was leaning down to kiss Juliana, and then Brennan was announcing them as husband and wife.

  Their guests burst into applause.

The sun had fully set by the time the reception began. All the guests filed into the tent and loaded up their plates with gourmet foods. They cut the cake, and the band started playing. Most of the songs were going to be popular radio songs, but the first few would be classical.

“May I have this dance?” Quinn asked Juliana.

  “Of course.”

She began to dance with him, and of course, her form for the waltz was impeccable. “You know how to dance,” he said.

Her eyes sparkled as she looked up at him. “And so do you.”

“Not by choice,” Quinn said. “For a while, Kellan hosted a bunch of charity galas, and we all had to go. He made us learn to dance so he wouldn’t have to suffer alone.”

  “Does he still have them?”

“Not in that form. He moved to a format where he hosts more palatable events, like concerts and ball games, with high-level donors, and they actually raise more money.”

“Sounds fun,” she said, and she stepped closer, brushing her lips over his cheek.

Now was not the time for him to get aroused, but he was very close. His wife was in his arms, and she smelled amazing.

  His wife.

  Mate.

He pulled her closer. “We’re married,” he murmured to her.

“Yes, we are.” She wrapped her arms around his waist and laid her head on his shoulder. “I’m about ready to leave on our honeymoon.”

He still hadn’t been successful in getting any information about where they were going. Juliana had planned it all with the help of his brothers.

“I’ve thrown the bouquet, and we’ve spoken to everyone here. Let’s go,” she said.

  “Really?” he asked.

“Yes. Really. The rest of the crowd can stay here and party all night, or until Kellan kicks them out.”

They said goodbye and thanked everyone again. In thirty minutes, they were climbing onto Kellan’s private jet.

“Now you have to tell me where we’re going,” he said.

She grinned. “Nope. You’ll find out when we get there.”

Resigned to not knowing, he settled onto the plush sofa and tugged her into his arms. He inhaled, taking in the citrus-like smell of her hair. He cuddled her close to him, and they slept for the next nine hours until the pilot announced they were close to their destination.

“Look out the window,” she said.

It was light outside, and he pushed the shade open to see the stark coastline of Eastern Ireland. The sea stretched out under them, and coming closer were the gray cliffs and the vibrant green hills as they proceeded to the Emerald Isle.

  “Ireland,” he said.

  “Are you surprised?”

Quinn didn’t know what to say. He’d only been back to Ireland once since he left at age seventeen, and it had been because Declan and Clara’s life was in danger.

Before he got there, Kellan had almost been murdered by the witches.

In the months since the witches attacked Kellan’s family, the brothers had come up with a plan. Instead of leaving the witches there to fester and grow more bitter and angrier, without anyone keeping their power in check, one of the brothers would go back home and check on the witches. The witches had been banished from the Cliffs of Moher, but that didn’t mean they couldn’t still cause trouble.

Brennan had been the first to go check on them, then Liam, and then Kellan. Quinn’s turn was coming up.

The sight of the Cliffs—his home—hit him like a punch to the gut.

“Quinn?” Juliana asked. “If there’s something wrong, we can easily go somewhere else. Kellan hired the pilot to take us anywhere we like.”

“No.” He took Juliana’s hand in his. “There’s nowhere I’d rather be.”

“Are you sure? Your face looks kind of pale.”

“I just haven’t been back a lot. I’m surprised to see it.”

“I haven’t seen it like this. We flew into the Dublin airport in a commercial plane, so this view is really something.” She scooted closer. “I did ask the guys if this would be a good idea, and they all thought you’d be thrilled.”

“I am.” He lifted her hand and kissed the back of it. “I can’t wait to land.”

“I found a bed and breakfast right near the cliffs. Of course, Kellan got involved and rented the whole place for us.”

“I wouldn’t expect anything less,” Quinn said.

She’s your mate. She brought you home. That’s what a mate does.

He was going to have to agree with his dragon on this one. She could have picked any location in the world, and she chose the one she thought he’d like best. He was going to tell her about his true feelings on this trip. He wouldn’t put any pressure on her, but he wanted her to know how he felt.

He was in love with her, and he was increasingly sure his dragon was correct—she was his mate.

He kissed her on the mouth. “You’re amazing. Thank you again. This is the best gift anyone’s ever given me.”

  Juliana

Quinn wrapped his arms around Juliana’s shoulders as they stood at the edge of the Cliffs of Moher. Not long after they’d arrived at the bed and breakfast, the jet lag had hit her hard, and they’d both taken a nap. They woke up, showered, and got dressed to go out and explore the area.

“This is very different from Cedar Lake,” she said. Here, on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, the sea was captivating. It wasn’t tropical, and there were no cocktails or flip flops to be found. The air held a chill, and the sky was often gray, but it was an enchanting place, and she understood why he’d miss a place like this while living in Texas.

“It is,” he agreed. “And while Ireland will always be my home, I love Cedar Lake. It’s treated me well.”

“It’s treated me well, too,” she said.

“I am so glad you chose for us to come here.” He stepped closer to her. “But I still can’t believe you picked it over Belize, Cancun, Hawaii, or the Maldives.”

“I’ve been to all of those places at least once,” she said. “My parents liked to give their employees exotic trips, like a benevolent Godfather with a cruel, controlling streak. I’m sure they were threatened heartily while they were there. Even though this isn’t a conventional marriage, I wanted our honeymoon to be special.”

Quinn tightened his embrace. “Speaking of conventional relationshi
ps, I wanted to tell you that I don’t consider our relationship to be fake. Not any longer.”

She turned to face him. She couldn’t imagine ever getting tired of looking at his handsome face. Under the cloudy sky, his blue eyes shone as he stared at her with intensity. “What do you mean?” she asked.

  “I’m in love with you.”

Her pulse faltered. She had no doubt that she felt the same way. She just hadn’t wanted to shackle him to her for the rest of their lives. “I’m in love with you, too,” she said.

He lifted her into his arms. She wrapped her legs around his waist. He grabbed her face in his hands and kissed her hard on the mouth. “We haven’t consummated our marriage yet,” he said.

Anticipation shot through her body. “Why don’t we do that right now?” she asked.

Was she ready for this? Was she ready to open her legs and let him slide between them? Was she ready to share the most intimate part of herself with him? Yes. She was. He was her husband now. He’d lay down his life for her. He’d given her a new home and a new family when she had nothing.

“You don’t have to ask me twice,” he said.

Inside the bed and breakfast, Quinn laid her down on the bed.

“This is the first time we’ve been in a bed,” she said.

“You’re right. We’ve kissed at the lake, in the kitchen and the living room, but not in the bedroom.”

She laughed. “So, our first time in bed will be on the honeymoon.” She smiled, hoping it was more seductive than sweet. “I’m going to lose my virginity on my honeymoon, too. That’s very romantic when you think about it.”

She hopped up, wanting to change out of the bulky outfit she was wearing. The clothes were the only drawback that came from having a honeymoon in Ireland during the early fall. It meant she had to wear jeans and sweaters and boots instead of bikinis and sundresses. Of course, Quinn looked handsome and dashing in his jeans and sweaters, but she just felt bulky.

“Just a minute,” she said, grabbing her suitcase.

In the restroom, she brushed her hair and her teeth. She’d taken a shower not long before they’d walked outside, so she was clean, but she wanted to freshen up. She ditched the heavy clothing and pulled on the lingerie that Clara had made her buy at the boutique in Dallas. The lingerie was ivory-colored, just like her wedding dress, and it consisted of a lacy babydoll slip and high cut panties underneath.

She looked at herself in the mirror. She pulled her shoulders back, pressed her breasts forward, and put her hands on her hips. She sighed. She looked silly, not sexy. She’d just have to go out there and be herself. Quinn liked her for who she was, so that wasn’t going to change on their wedding night.

She took a deep breath and opened the door. In the bedroom, Quinn stood by the window, looking out at the cliffs. She could feel the change in him since they’d arrived in Ireland. He seemed more thoughtful and less talkative, although he assured her that he was happy to be there. She knew there must be some pretty significant event from his past to make him move to Texas since he so clearly loved Ireland. Something drastic must have happened to make a seventeen-year-old boy work to drop his accent.

He moved out of the shadows, and heat rippled through her veins. Quinn still had on his jeans, but he was shirtless. He turned toward her, and her mouth watered at the sight of his sculpted pecs and his perfectly chiseled abs. She wanted to touch them. She wanted to run her hands across the muscles of his chest, and she wanted to lick her tongue over his flat stomach.

Arousal flooded her core. He was her husband. She could touch him.

She stepped forward until she was within touching distance of him.

His breathing was heavy already. “Juliana,” he said in a low tone. “You don’t know what you do to me.” He reached out with one hand and trailed his finger over the bodice of her babydoll slip.

Her nipples peaked and tightened. Her pussy throbbed.

She reached out, too, and put the flat of her palm on his chest. Underneath her hand, she could feel the rapid beat of his heart.

His hand came up to grasp hers. “Feel what you do to me?” he asked.

She ran her hand down over his washboard abs. Under her hand, his stomach contracted.

He closed his eyes. “You turn me on so much. You have no idea how much I want you.”

  “Show me,” she said.

His blue eyes darkened. “That’s exactly what I’m going to do.”

There was so much heat in his voice that her knees went weak right away. He pulled her in close, and she could smell his cologne. Today, it was a woodsy scent that seemed to complement their location.

“You’re my wife now.” He gripped her shoulders in a firm hold. “You’re a virgin. Pretty soon, you won’t be.”

Her breathing quickened. Hearing his words made her pussy get wetter. She let her head fall forward to rest on his shoulder. Against her pelvis, she could feel his hard cock through his jeans. His hand snaked up under her slip, and he touched her bottom, palming it and squeezing the globes.

“I’m going to turn you around,” he said. “I want to see you from the back, too.”

His blunt words send another gush of slick to her pussy. His firm hands guided her to turn around, and she felt his hot gaze land on her back. He gathered her hair up and brushed it over to one side, and he kissed the nape of her neck, which sent a powerful shiver straight down her spine. He lifted the skirt of the skip up, baring her backside to him. Her lacy panties only covered a small portion of her bottom, and he knelt suddenly, kissing the exposed skin.

Then he stood back up, pressing his big body against her back. She bowed her head as a bashful feeling washed over her, which was silly because he’d had his head between her legs not that long ago.

“This angle is just right,” he said. “I can touch you everywhere.”

One of his hands slipped up under her skirt to cup her breast, and the other pushed down into her panties. He rolled his hips, pressing his erection into the small of her back. She was aware enough to know lots of people liked being fucked from behind. Maybe she’d like it, too.

“I can’t wait to be inside you,” he said.

She nodded as a flush stained her skin, but she couldn’t get any words out of her mouth.

“Are you feeling shy?” he asked.

  “Yes,” she admitted.

“There’s no need.” He kissed her shoulder blade. “Every inch of you is gorgeous, and I plan to worship every bit of it.”

She shuddered, moaning as he pushed one finger all the way into her panties. He skipped her clit and pressed his finger into her pussy. “You’re wet,” he said. “That’s good. We’re going to get you all wet and open for my cock.”

Her legs could barely hold her up, and her body sagged at his descriptive words. He grabbed her and held her weight, pulling her flush against him as he thrust his finger in and out of her pussy. With his thumb, he began to circle her clit. Her knees locked up, and her muscles spasmed. If he hadn’t been holding her up, she’d have crashed to the floor.

He carefully added a second finger. “Good,” he said. “Keep letting me in.”

Her juices flowed, coating his fingers and wetting the thin lace of her panties. He bent his head and sucked on her neck once, then alternated between little bites and kisses.

  “Quinn! I’m close.”

“Come when you’re ready,” he said. “It’ll relax your pussy. It’ll make it easier for me to slide my cock in.”

  “I need it,” she moaned.

“Yeah? You don’t want to be a virgin anymore?”

“No. I’m ready.” And she was ready. She was ready to give her husband her virginity. It was hers to give, and from now on, it would belong to him. “I want you to put your cock in me.”

“Soon,” he said. “Now, I’m going to put a third finger in.” He pressed his finger in, joining with the other two.

The addition of another finger wasn’t as comfortable, and it stretched
the walls of her pussy.

  “Does that hurt?” he asked.

“It doesn’t hurt, but it aches.”

“It might ache now, but getting stretched will help once I’m inside you.”

She loved the casual way he spoke about the two of them having sex. He spent several minutes kissing her neck, whispering in her ear, and thrusting his fingers in and out of her body. After a time, he removed all but one finger and began to thrust again, this time making sure to hit her sweet spot.

Quinn’s chest rumbled, and he growled. “Come now,” he said as he increased the speed of his thumb on her clit.

Her body responded. Her head jerked back, and her legs tightened. Her pussy contracted, pulsing around his fingers as they rubbed the inside of her body. Her entire body went limp, and he pulled his fingers from her pussy. He lifted her into his arms and laid her on the bed. She stretched, coveting the feel of her recent orgasm while she stared up at her smoking hot husband.

His watchful gaze didn’t stray from her body. “Spread your legs,” he said.

She did, and he reached down to palm his cock. “Now slide your panties off.”

She did as he asked. She made each movement slow, trying to make it sensuous, as she slid the lacy garment down over her hips and then down her legs. When her panties were off, he took them and dropped them on the floor.

She lay with her legs open, letting him look. He unbuttoned his jeans and pushed them off, leaving only his boxers on. He grabbed a condom from their suitcase and laid it on the bed. Then, he crawled over her, kneeling between her legs.

“You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” he said. “I love you.”

The same was true for her, too. She’d never imagined a man would exist who could be so completely masculine and yet be so open and honest about his feelings. She’d never seen any male in her family, or in the people she knew well, willing to express any feelings beyond pride. Quinn never tried to hide how he felt, and she really treasured that.
